Livingston Christian Schools 5th Grade February 1-5
Bible: God provided a new leader for the people of Israel. It was Joshua who was given the privilege of leading the people into their promised land of Canaan. As we study the book of Joshua, we will see how obedience brought victory and disobedience brought defeat. By applying these truths to our lives, we will learn that if we are courageous and obedient, God will make us successful. Not as the world views success, but as God does. The Bible memory from Isaiah 40:26-28 will be due next Friday, Feb. 12 and Bible quiz 14 is scheduled for next week, Wednesday, Feb. 10.
Spelling: List 19 are English words borrowed from other languages. The pre-test will be next Wednesday, Feb. 10, and the final test is set for Friday, Feb. 12. Spelling sentences are due Thursday, Feb. 11.

Language Arts: The reading selection this week is entitled Sacagawea's Journey, pgs. 268-281. The comprehension quiz is due Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Grammar lessons will provide review in simple and compound subjects and verbs, simple and compound sentences, the four purposes of sentences, locating out of the ordinary subjects and verbs, and diagramming sentences. A test will be set for Tuesday, Feb. 9.
Writing Workshop time will be used for journaling. Additionally, students will edit their tall tales and turn them in Wednesday, Feb. 3. We will also be journaling at winter camp. Be always observing, watching, and learning for something to write about!!!
Math: Concepts include changing customary units using either division or multiplication and reviewing previous material. The chapter 7 test is set for Wednesday, Feb. 10.
History: Taking a break to focus on science.
Science: Students will review food chains and webs and share thier biome posters.

*LCS Speech Meet Tuesday, Feb. 2 (top 6 scores in 5th grade will be presenting)
*Thursday, Feb. 4-5 Winter Camp. All students will be meeting at LCS @ 7:45 AM to load vehicles with luggage. Please meet in the foyer by the school office. If you are driving, please park on Hamburg Street. An informational packet is being sent home regarding what to pack and contact phone numbers. Parent chaperones are Mrs. Frederick, Mrs. Martin, Mr. Sedlak, Mrs. Weeks, and Mr. Zolinski.
*Analogy meet set for Thursday, February 18.
