Livingston Christian Schools 5th Grade March 22-26

Bible: As we continue to study 1 Samuel, we will learn about the character qualities of David, the next king of Israel. We will discuss how to apply these qualities to our lives. Bible quiz 19 is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23 while the verse test over Proverbs 3:1-6 is set for Friday, March 26.


Spelling: List 24 words are language terms. Spelling sentences are due Thursday, March 25. The pre-test and final test are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

Language Arts: Grammar lessons will continue to focus on comma, apostrophe, and colon usage. The next language test will probably be early next week.

We will read an article about Dinosaur Extinction from Answers in Genesis and summarize it into a typed, double spaced three paragraph essay. This is due Friday, March 26.

Writing Workshop time be devoted to journal writing on various topics. Additionally, students will begin planning a research project using at least 3 resources to develop a hypothesis that is supported with data. This week we will learn about what is required to do well on this project.


Math: Concepts covered this week: congruent and similar figures and line symmetry. We will review for a test early next week.

History: The colonists cut ties with the British government and formed their own country. People in the new nation had different views about how to achieve independence. To win the Revolutionary War, the Continental Army overcame great obstacles to turn the war in its favor. What was the turning of the war? We'll find out this week.


Science: Students have received notes to prepare for the chapter 5 science test scheduled for Thursday, March 25.
