Livingston Christian Schools 5th Grade January 25-29
Bible: In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses passes on to his heavenly reward. Who will God use to lead the Israelites now? Before he died, God allowed Moses to have a special vision of the future. What did God show him? Find out this week! Bible memory is Isaiah 40:26-27 set for Friday, January 29. Quiz 13 is also set for Friday, January 29.
Spelling: List 18 words are terms found in American documents. The pre-test and final test are set for Wednesday and Friday, respectively. Spelling sentences are due Thursday, January 28. Students should learn to spell all words, but only are responsible for the definitions on #16-24.

Langauge Arts: The reading selection this week is entitled The Story of Jumping Mouse, pgs. 256-267. In this story, the author uses sensory description to make the text powerful. Plan on completing the comprehension quiz by Thursday, January 28.
Grammar lessons continue to review identifying simple and compound sentences and punctuating them correctly.
Writing workshop time will provide time to complete the tall tale. The rough draft should be typed, double-spaced and turned in on Thursday, January 28. Speaking of TALL tales, a two foot picture of the story's hero or heroine is also due Thursday, January 28.
Math: New concepts include dividing fractions, weight and capacity
History: Taking a break to focus on science.
Science: The biome posters should be completed by Wednesday, January 29. Each group will explain their artwork, making sure to use the vocabulary we have been learning in science. New concepts this week included energy flow, food chains, food webs, and an energy pyramid.
Other:
*Class speech presentation for a grade is on Wednesday, January 27. From this presentation, I will select 6 students to present to judges on Tuesday, February 2 during the LCS school meet.
*Next analogy meet is set for Thursday, February 8. Keep studying your first list as well as the new list of terms.
*Winter Camp money and permission slip should be turned in by Friday, January 29.
*Report Cards coming home on Wednesday, January 27.
